The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) will be hosting the first ATL Tour, meant to shine a light on Atlanta’s healthcare ecosystem and diversity in technology from April 26 through April 28. Leading figures from Silicon Valley’s companies will be introduced to some of the most-recognizable and successful Atlanta brands in our metro region to foster partnerships and collaboration.
The ATL Tour will include meetings with CEOs and senior executives while also featuring talks and panels with members of the Atlanta business community. MAC’s President and CEO Hala Moddelmog will be on hand with Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, president and dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine, to kick things off.
“The ATL Tour is bringing diversity of thought to our Atlanta healthcare ecosystem,” said Rice. “By hosting these events where collaborations and new partnerships arise, we develop technologies that are valuable to all communities.”
Some of the must-see panels of The ATL Tour include “Healthcare Innovation in the ATL” hosted by athenahealth on April 27 and the roundtable discussion, “Diversity in Innovation” hosted at the Center for Civic and Human Rights on April 28. Lunches and dinners will be held at some of Atlanta’s landmark gathering spaces, like Ponce City Market and Two Urban Licks. The tour will wrap up with a reception at the Porsche Driving Experience.
“It’s in the DNA of Atlanta to lead the way in creating a more inclusive global community. The ATL Tour provides us with the unique opportunity to form a pipeline of resource sharing from Atlanta to Silicon Valley,” said Kornelius Bankston, director of bioscience ecosystem expansion with the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “It is our hope that we can provide a space where we can ignite creativity and innovation that will solve some of the most challenging health problems.”
The bioscience industry in Georgia leads the nation with more than 200 companies and more than $4 billion in annual reported revenue and 15,000 employees. For more information on the work of the Bioscience Council and the state of the healthcare technology industry in Georgia, click here.
