The Business Case for High-Quality Childcare

This morning, the Metro Atlanta Chamber hosted a conversation on the importance of quality childcare. Featuring Dennis Lockhart, former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and Stephanie Blank, chair of the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, the program centered on topics ranging from the need for business and government investment in our kids age 0-5 to how the current childcare system operates regarding funding and quality of services.

The Chamber’s program was modeled after, and sponsored by, a similar program hosted in June at the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation in Washington, D.C. The US Chamber Foundation’s Education & Workforce Division supplies a variety of materials and tools that were also part of the Metro Chamber’s program.

Additional program highlights included presentations from GEEARS on access to quality childcare and how childcare is funded from Quality Care for Children.

This event is the first in a series of efforts to encourage business interaction and investment in early education as a way to support and enrich the entire birth-to-career environment in the region.
