Last week, the Metro Atlanta Chamber Public Policy team hosted an End of Session Briefing to discuss outcomes from the 2018 legislative session. Chief Policy Officer, Katie Kirkpatrick opened the meeting by introducing the members of our Policy Team and an overview of the session. She describe this year as "being focused on the three T's: taxes, transit and telecom."

Marshall Guest, VP Business Climate and Dave Williams, VP Infrastructure and Goverment Affairs gave remarks on their issue areas. Guest discussed the state response to federal tax reform and other tax incentives. "There have been conversations about lowering the income tax rate for years, and this General Assembly did it," Guest said.

On Infrastructure, Williams discussed several wins in transportation, such as streamlined licensing for large vehicle fleets. The biggest topic was transit expansion and the creation of the Atlanta-region Transit Link (ATL) Authority.

Before adjorning, Kirkpatrick gave a preview of the upcoming 2018 elections and unveiled MAC's new tool: Vote Metro ATL, a site which contains information on the candidates running for statewide office as well as for the Georgia House and Senate in the 29 county metro region.
