GDOT Funding Priorities for Amended FY2016 and FY2017 Budgets

The Transportation Funding Act of 2015  (HB 170) is already having a major impact on the current fiscal 2016 budget.  Additional revenue generated by the legislation is allowing the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to address critical road and bridge projects that have been long overdue.

GDOT is now preparing for the upcoming appropriation processes set to begin in early January.  Some of the items to be submitted by GDOT to lawmakers for consideration in the Amended FY2016 budget include:

  • $519 million added to Capital Projects
  • $200 million added to Routine Maintenance
  • $36 million added to LMIG

The FY2017 budget request includes:

  • $200M add to Routine Maintenance
  • $543M add to Capital Projects
  • $41M increase to LMIG

An overview of the department's Amended FY2016 and FY2017 budget requests can be found here.
