Yesterday, More MARTA hosted an information session here at the Metro Atlanta Chamber for members of the business community.
City of Atlanta Planning Commissioner Tim Keane first gave a presentation on growth in the City, delineating the growth and conservation zones across the city. His comments made it clear that transportation mode shift is the only way for our city to handle the increasing population facing our region. With millions more headed toward metro Atlanta, it simply isn’t possible to create enough road capacity to handle those cars. We must make transit more accessible for those who must rely on it and those who choose to rely on it.
Ben Limmer, Assistant General Manager of Planning, for MARTA then gave an overview of the More MARTA project from the 2016 vote through the public input process to narrow down the list in preparation for the MARTA Board final approval vote in October.
The proposed projects include extensive light rail transit (LRT), bus rapid transit (BRT) and arterial rapid transit (ART). See the full map below:
