From Hala Moddelmog, President and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber

In light of current health-related concerns, I want to update you on MAC’s policy regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus disease). Our policy, effective immediately, reflects practices that have emerged from CDC recommendations, across the business community in Atlanta and nationwide.

Our top priority is the safety of our staff, investors and visitors. We are committed to maintaining business continuity and are taking the necessary steps to ensure that we remain productive and responsive throughout this situation. That includes using our broadband conferencing options and working remotely if the situation necessitates those tactics.

To reduce the opportunities for the spread of germs, we are declaring MAC a “handshake-free zone” and posting signage to encourage elbow bumps and proper hand-washing techniques. Additionally, our facilities team is taking extra precautions to disinfect all door handles, tables and chairs before meetings and events. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer and cleaning products are also readily available and visible throughout the building.

Following are other precautions we are taking to keep you and our staff safe and healthy:

  • MAC is banning all non-essential business domestic travel and all international business travel for our staff.
  • We are asking staff to inform HR and their managers about any personal international travel. We are also asking staff not to return to the office for 14 days if they or someone they live or are in close contact with have traveled to any of the affected areas where coronavirus is prevalent in the last two weeks or live with or have had close contact with someone who is confirmed to have or is being evaluated for the infection.
  • In addition to staff, MAC is also asking all guests not to enter our office if they or someone they live or are in close contact with have traveled to any of the affected areas where coronavirus is prevalent in the last two weeks or live with or have had close contact with someone who is confirmed to have or is being evaluated for the infection. Thank you for respecting our efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy.
  • As of today, we are continuing planned in-house events. We are exploring virtual technology options to be implemented as CDC recommendations dictate.
  • MAC is closely monitoring the situation related to any planned out-of-market events and will provide updates on their status as they are confirmed.
