Yesterday, MAC's Public Policy team joined Comcast in co-hosting more than 20 legislators serving on Georgia's House Economic Development and Tourism Committee as they visited The Battery Atlanta and Comcast Regional Headquarters. The trip highlighted the economic development and tourism impact The Battery Atlanta Development has generated for Cobb County, metro Atlanta, and the State of Georgia.
Chairman Ron Stephens and committee members toured "The Farm", Comcast's tech accelerator located at the Atlanta facility, and spoke with several startup entrepreneurs.
MAC's Dave Williams moderated a panel discussion on economic development trends featuring Mike Plant and Derek Schiller of the Atlanta Braves, Duane Gibbs of Comcast, and Sharon Mason of the Cobb Chamber. The discussion elaborated on partnerships between the business community and sports franchises, retailers, hotels, as well as state and local government leaders.
The field trip concluded with a walking tour of SunTrust Park, Roxy Theatre, and several restaurants at the Battery. Many thanks to Comcast Central Division President Bill Connors for arranging this in-depth look at the cutting-edge technology integrated into the Battery, SunTrust Park, and the entire mixed-use development that elevates the visitor experience to a level not seen before.
