Today Governor Deal signed the state’s $26 billion budget into law. This budget positions the state for positive growth well into the future and will help keep Georgia the No. 1 state in which to do business. Its successful passage would not have been possible without the leadership of Governor Deal, his staff, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees led by Rep. Terry England and Sen. Jack Hill, House Speaker David Ralston, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, as well as the members of the General Assembly who supported its passage. A few highlights include:

  • Full funding for the Quality Basic Education (QBE) formula
  • $3 million to promote educational opportunities available at the state’s technical colleges
  • $1.8 billion in transportation spending, which includes a $1 billion investment in transportation infrastructure annually as a result of HB 170 passage in 2015
  • $35 million in bond funds for the Savannah Harbor deepening project
  • $100 million to support local transit systems statewide
  • $200,000 for the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District
