Georgia Partnership Issues Top Ten Education Issues for 2019

January 24, 2019

Want to know what's big in Education for the state of Georgia this year?

The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (GPEE) issues a Top Ten report every year that takes a look at what issues are hot among policy makers and education professional, as well as issues that should be important to everyone. The Metro Atlanta Chamber is proud to partner with GPEE around policy issues in education through EdQuest, a policy collaborative that seeks to move educaiton issues forward in Georgia. The Top Ten is a great narrative to review, and dive deep in a thoughtful way, policies that may or should be moving during this 2019 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly and throughout the year once that session ends.

Regarding Early Education:

Beyond the short- and long-term social and education outcomes directly related to young children participating in early learning programs, high-quality early learning and child care contributes directly to the economic health of Georgia.

Leadership Changes in the state:

Georgians deserve a clear vision for public education that empowers state and local leaders as well as parents and students to make decisions that best support the educational needs of all of the state’s citizens. That’s why the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education created a framework to ensure that the same policies that enable and accelerate strong public education nationally and globally are in place in Georgia

And EdQuest:

This framework, called EdQuest Georgia, is built on seven core policy areas that ensure local districts are sustained by strong families, employ quality teachers and leaders, provide supportive learning environments to their students, are engaged with advanced instructional systems that provide clear pathways to post-secondary success, and have equitable access to resources to be able to innovate, customize, and meet the needs of their students.
