The following statement from the Metro Atlanta Chamber can be attributed to Katie Kirkpatrick, President & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

Today’s guilty verdicts send a clear message: Ahmaud Arbery’s life matters. While we are proud that MAC joined others over the last several years to advocate successfully to repeal the citizen’s arrest law and pass long-overdue hate crimes legislation in Georgia, we are sobered that his murder prompted these efforts.  As we continue to work toward a more just society, Ahmaud’s life was honored today.

In metro Atlanta, our differences and our diversity are our strength.  Let us continue to work together to uphold our civil rights legacy and champion change.  We hope that this verdict is a step towards peace and healing for the Arbery family.
