Senator Johnny Isakson, a stalwart friend of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, delivered his farewell address from the floor of the United States Senate on Tuesday. Sen. Isakson reflected back on his career in politics while urging bipartisanship and prioritizing problem-solving over politics. His address was followed by several tributes from Senate colleagues who continually remarked on the senator’s integrity, widely-respected reputation, and willingness to reach across the aisle.
Sen. Isakson’s 45-year career in politics was preceded by his work at a real estate company where he developed his business acumen that has guided his policy insights to this day.
“Sen. Isakson embodies servant leadership and has been a champion for public education, a defender of veterans, and a faithful friend to the Georgia business community,” said Hala Moddelmog, MAC President & CEO. “Though we know he will remain an active friend and is a forever servant, we thank him and wish him the best in his retirement.”
The Metro Atlanta Chamber expresses our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Isakson for his distinguished service to our state and to the business community. We also thank his wife, Dianne, and their family for supporting this champion and friend to all Georgians. We wish him all the best in retirement.
Thank you, Johnny!
