Our schools are key to economic recovery in Georgia and across the US, and the pandemic has provided an opportunity to implement true innovation by addressing historical structures and removing barriers that have kept many Georgians from fully participating in the state’s economic prosperity.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber is partnering with GeorgiaCAN and the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education to bring you a series of informational webinars with a deep look into education data and how that data impacts everything from classroom teaching to school district programs to economic development and higher education agencies and institutions.
Webinar #1 in April of 2021 explored how districts are looking at student achievement data and making plans for additional and summer learning for students. Local superintendents gave us a good look at the great lengths that our school districts are making in order to help students who have been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Webinar #2 in May examined how other states are tackling education data and in particular the statewide assessments that states are required to give with an excellent presentation from Dale Chu. We also spoke with the Georgia Department of Education's leading expert, Dr. Allison Timberlake, who walked us through the uses from the statewide assessment data and how teachers, principals, department staff and other agencies all find great utility in this assessment information. We also heard about exciting assessments being piloted in severla school districts which could change the timing the flow of student achievement data back to teachers.

Webinar #3 will be held on June 15th and will examine the role of education data and its impact on economic development from higher education through business development. We will also hear from national staff at the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Center for Education & Workforce on big picture – how education data is driving economic recovery in the U.S.
