The Georgia Education Reform Commission today delivered it's final comprehensive education reform package to Governor Deal for consideration. The Governor created the commission earlier this year with the intent of improving education delivery for students and to ensure they are prepared for post secondary education and the workforce.
The commission's report encompasses a broad spectrum of recommendations spanning across Georgia's education system – from pre-K through high school graduation and inclusive of dual enrollment programs.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber applauds Governor Deal for taking ambitious steps to address education reform particularly for those students who are most in need. These forward-thinking proposals are a start toward transforming our education delivery system. If implemented, school districts across the state will have the flexibility to better recruit, retain and train teachers. Those teachers will be better equipped with updated classroom tools for instruction, and students will benefit from a more robust, well-rounded education experience. Combined, these improvements would achieve the Governor's goal of preparing students to be on par with their peers across the country and the globe.
