Yesterday, a couple of members of the MAC Public Policy team attended the Cobb Chamber’s Transportation & Mobility Summit.

The event kicked off with an overview of Cobb’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan from Mike Boyce, Chairman of the Cobb County Commission. Mr. Boyce did a great job detailing the plans for transportation improvement, views on transit in the county, and upcoming SPLOST votes.

Next up was a regional transportation panel featuring Meg Pirkle, Chief Engineer with GDOT, Mike Alexander, Director of the Center for Livable Communities at ARC, Jeff Parker, CEO of MARTA and Michael “Sully” Sullivan, president of American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia. Their conversation centered around the big projects and legislation that have occurred in the last 5 years, including 2015’s House Bill 170, GDOT’s Major Mobility Investment Projects, and general planning for the next 50 years in transportation.

The event keynote was Chris Tomlinson, the Executive Director of GRTA, SRTA and the ATL. He gave a presentations about the ATL Regional Transit Plan and Cobb projects.
