Business leaders joined a growing coalition of millennial, environmental and smart growth advocates at the Capitol yesterday for a committee hearing on SB 313, a bill that would allow MARTA counties to vote on a 1/2 penny for transit rail expansion in those counties.
Reporter Dave Williams spoke with Mark Toro of North American Properties for the news report he filed with the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
“It’s incumbent upon any CEO to engage the best and brightest,” Toro said. “NCR, Worldpay, Athenahealth, all decided to abandon their suburban companies and move in town to a great extent because their talent is in the urban area.”
Nick Juliano is the vice president of Resolute Consulting and the president of the Coalition to Advance Atlanta:
“For too long, we’ve been kicking the can down the road on transit,” Juliano said. “We believe you should be able to get from one end of the region to the other efficiently and in a reasonable amount of time. Heavy rail is an integral part of that equation.”
