Organization Set for Growth in Sports Event Recruitment to Metro Atlanta
ATLANTA (January 5, 2016) – The Atlanta Sports Council (ASC) announced today the addition of six new corporate members to the existing Board of Directors. New members include Fifth Third Bank, Georgia Aquarium, Georgia Swarm, Porsche Experience Center, Rosser International and the Westin Atlanta.
“The goals and objectives of our organization would not be met without the support of our Board of Directors, and we are beyond thrilled to be starting a new year with six great additions to our existing Board,” said Dan Corso, executive director of Atlanta Sports Council. “We look forward to all that 2016 has to offer and continuing to work with great partners around the community to secure renowned sports events to the region.”
The ASC’s Board is comprised of more than 45 Atlanta corporate leaders and executives representing Atlanta’s professional teams, facilities, sports properties, media, hospitality community and corporations. The Board provides strategic direction and support of ASC initiatives.
Recently, the organization announced Ron Rogowski, vice president of global brand and sponsorship for UPS, as chair of the Board.
The ASC, a division of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, facilitates the growth and development of sports in metro Atlanta by serving as a recruiter for major regional, national and international sports events. The organization plays an important role in improving the quality of life for residents in the region through sports, working to drive economic growth and visibility and acting as an advocate for the area teams and annual sports events.
The ASC has played a significant role in helping to attract more than 100 major sports events to the 29-county metro Atlanta region since its inception. Over the next few years several marquee events are slated to call Atlanta home, including:
