ATLANTA — The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with other local chambers, is spearheading a special employee incentive program for the area's educators. Working with Atlanta-based direct marketer Sparkfly (www.sparkfly.com), the Metro Chamber will provide school-system employees with access to discounts and exclusive offers from leading merchants.

“The business community understands the link between education and economic development,” said Sam A. Williams, President of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “Our business leaders are always working on initiatives to support improvements in education. We know that teacher quality is critical to student achievement, and it's important that metro Atlanta is able to attract and retain skilled educators.”

The Metro Atlanta School Systems Employee Discount Program will benefit 14 Atlanta school systems and approximately 98,000 school personnel. The program will be promoted through school systems' Intranets, electronic mail and semi-annual print advertising.

“We wanted to show teachers and educators that we appreciate their efforts as they interact with students every day in the classroom, serving as instructional leaders and role models,” said Janie Maddox, Chairman of the Regional Education Policy Committee for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “We also wanted to provide human resource personnel with another tool to help recruit quality teachers and educators to the 14-school system metro Atlanta region.”
