Scotland-based Company to Locate
First U.S. Headquarters in Atlanta

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Redeem plc of Scotland has selected Atlanta for its new U.S. headquarters.  The company, operating in the United States as Recycling Appeal USA, expects to create more than 100 jobs over the next three years. United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta will be its first non-profit partner.

“Creating new jobs for Georgians, bringing innovative businesses to the state and promoting the wise use of our resources have all been top priorities for my administration,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.  “I’m extremely pleased that this project embraces all of these initiatives and will provide new opportunities for our state’s vitally important non-profit sector.”

Redeem plc is an international leader in the recovery, reuse and recycling of used printer cartridges and mobile phones.  The company has entered into an agreement with United Way of Metro Atlanta to serve as a partner for the collection and fundraising activities associated with used cartridges and mobile phones.  United Way will receive the majority of the proceeds from Redeem plc’s sale of the charity’s recycled cartridges and mobile phones.

“We are delighted to be launching our U.S. operations in Georgia.  While Redeem has had presence in the United States for some time, the opening of our new headquarters in Atlanta signifies our commitment to establishing Recycling Appeal USA in America,” said Redeem Chief Executive Officer Jamie Rae.  “With United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta as our first charity partner we are confident we will get an excellent response and raise public awareness of the importance of recycling cell phones and print cartridges and raising funds.”

The company will occupy 12,000-square-feet of leased space at 5600 Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross, and expects to begin operations October 16.

“By choosing to locate here, Redeem creates a win-win scenario for everyone,” said Bonnie Cole, vice president for resource development, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. “This program is an innovative way to raise funds needed in our community, while allowing donors to create a positive impact on the community and the environment.  Redeem shipping pouches will carry our message into businesses across the area and we hope everyone will take the time to support our partnership.”

“Redeem’s partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is an ideal way to roll out this new business model,” said Craig Lesser, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.  “Our state has a reputation as a launching pad for innovation, and we look forward to helping Redeem’s operations expand throughout the state and the nation.”

“Recycling Appeal USA’s embrace of best practices in environmental sustainability and corporate philanthropy make landing this headquarters a win-win for our region,” said Hans Gant, senior vice president of economic development for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.  “Atlanta is a good place for Redeem plc, which will join a number of other European companies headquartered here.”

Through end-user and brokerage collection programs, Redeem supplies quality assured cartridges and mobile/cell phones to customers throughout the world. The company is accredited with ISO 14001, 9001, EMAS and Investors in People, ensuring processes and procedures of the highest standard.  Please visit www.redeemplc.com for more information.
