Atlanta for Third Consecutive Year
“Third-Party Logistics” Summit Shows Atlanta’s Status
as a Logistics Gateway Continues to Grow

ATLANTA – Hundreds of corporate executives are meeting in Atlanta June 25-27 for the annual “Third-Party Logistics” (3PL) Summit. This is the third consecutive year that summit organizers have chosen Atlanta to host the event, which focuses on logistics management.

The summit will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead in the Ballroom. Pre-summit workshops will begin at noon on Monday, June 25. The summit will officially kick-off at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, and run through Wednesday, June 27. For more information or to register, visit the www.eyefortransport.com Web Site. “The eyes of the world are turning to Atlanta as a leader in the logistics industry,” said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “Our cost of business is low, our research universities are on the cutting edge of innovation and we have a world-class network of air, ports, rail and roads – all converging in Atlanta .”

Metro Atlanta has the fifth-largest concentration of logistics companies and employment in the country, with more than 103,000 jobs. In fact, more than 90 percent of the top 25 third-party logistics service providers have operations in Atlanta.

Logistics giants in the Atlanta area include UPS and Delta Air Lines, and bolstered by other logistics powerhouses, such as Manhattan Associates, Norfolk Southern and the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute at Georgia Tech.

“Every year we attract more 3PL companies to the city and we expect this trend to continue,” said Williams. “We're proud to showcase Atlanta as a logistical powerhouse to the Summit 's attendees who are the experts in managing global supply chains.”
