ATLANTA – Organizers of the Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Summit announced today at the closing of this year’s event that the two-day conference focused on logistics management is to be held in Atlanta for its third consecutive year in the summer of 2007.
“ Atlanta’s reputation as a logistics leader is soaring worldwide,” said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “We’re pleased that the world’s top third-party logistics service providers will meet again in Atlanta for the eyefortransport 3PL Summit. When it comes to gathering top minds in the logistics industry, there’s no better place than Atlanta”
Metro Atlanta has the fifth-largest concentration of logistics companies and employment in the country, with more than 103,000 jobs. In fact, 24 of the top 25 third-party logistics service providers have operations in Atlanta. Companies that rely on seamless logistics, such as Delta Air Lines, Manhattan Associates and UPS are headquartered in Atlanta.
In the last two years, nine 3PL companies have relocated their operations to Atlanta to take advantage of Georgia’s first-class international airport, rails, highways and ports. The recent addition of the $1.25 billion fifth runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport enhances Atlanta’s capability as a global logistics gateway.
More than 600 senior executives and CEOs attended the 3PL two-day events held this year at Atlanta’s InterContinental Buckhead. Now in its fourth year, the 3PL Summit has established itself as the premier meeting place in North America for senior 3PL executives and their customers. Dates for the 2007 conference will be announced later this year.
