ATLANTA – The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce has named David B. Hartnett as the new vice president of technology industry expansion for the economic development division.
“David will be instrumental in this role as the Chamber continues to focus on increasing the presence of the technology industry clusters in Atlanta, including: bioscience, advanced telecom and software,” said Hans Gant, senior vice president of economic development for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “ In the last five years, the state has moved from 11th place to seventh place in the number of biotechnology companies located here.”
Hartnett has more than 17 years of senior management experience in medical device, pharmaceutical and telemedicine IT health care companies. His diverse experiences have contributed to international recognition and commercial success of six premier health care technology companies.
Prior to joining the Chamber, he served as the president and CEO of UnitedPharma Inc., a medical device and pharmaceutical company based in Duluth, Ga. Hartnett was also president and CEO of SteriFX Corp., a specialist chemical company with a patented formula developed for a variety of markets from healthcare to the homeland defense industry.

- American Israeli Chamber of Commerce, medical, telecommunications and software committees
- Georgia’s bio-medical partnership
- National Blood Foundation leadership forum

Hartnett holds a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. He is a native of Coronado, Calif. He has been married to his wife, Cathleen (Cara), for 16 years and has four children.
