Water Resources

As direct result of the Metro Atlanta Chamber's Clean Water Initiative, the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District was created by the Georgia General Assembly in 2001. The formation of this District - the first of its kind in the nation - provides regional water resources planning and support for the 16 county metro area serving over four million people (half the population of Georgia).

As a result, the District has now developed detailed 2030 water resource plans for water supply and conservation, stormwater management and wastewater. Implementation is underway.

The Chamber is also actively involved in the development of the first-ever Georgia State Comprehensive Water Plan, due by July 2007, and is actively working with a statewide group that includes other areas of Georgia, local governments, water providers, trade associations, business, industry and real estate and engineering interests.
