This was a message from Sam A. Williams explaining the purpose of this  communication.

President's Message

In redesigning this important communication piece, we had three goals in mind:

  • to keep you updated on the issues we're working on that you care about
  • to package this information in a format that's easy to read
  • and to make the e-newsletter a more dynamic communication vehicle by sending it often enough that the contents are relevant and fresh.
So beginning today, The Phoenix will appear in your in-box every two weeks, instead of monthly. It will include a roundup of the key projects we're working on and hot topics in the news. And it will still be a great place to learn about upcoming events and networking opportunities.

The newsletter takes its name from the creature depicted in our logo. The phoenix is a mythological bird that rose up from ashes and destruction -- a perfect symbol for Atlanta, a city that was burned to the ground in 1864 and rebuilt and reinvented itself. And the Phoenix City keeps reinventing itself year after year.

We hope you'll also enjoy the photographs that capture you -- our members -- in action, as well as the special guests, elected officials and partners that make the Chamber a nerve center for powerful thinking and positive change.
