Another Major Chinese Manufacturer
Coming to Atlanta, Bringing 240 Jobs

Metro Atlanta’s effort to solidify ties to China is paying off in bringing another major China-based manufacturer to the area. China-based Zhejiang Dongzheng Electrical Company’s U.S. subsidiary, General Protecht U.S., chose Barnesville, Georgia as its $30 million assembly and distribution facility for ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI), electrical outlets, switches and other wiring devices. The company will purchase 200 acres to build its facility.

New Population Figures Show Atlanta
Leads in Population Gains

Newly released 2006 census figures reveal metro Atlanta, now passing the 5 million mark, remains the country’s leader in population gains. The area’s population growth from 2000 to 2006 is the largest increase in the country at 856,266 people added, a 20 percent increase.

Atlanta Gains Additional Air Cargo Route
Luxembourg-based Cargolux, the world’s 11th-largest cargo carrier, began two flights weekly to Atlanta at the end of March 2007. This Luxembourg-Atlanta cargo service will provide additional capacity to meet growing demand between Europe and the Southeast.
