Mission:
The Small to Mid-Size Business Council provides a collective voice to ensure that small business members are served by the Metro Atlanta Chamber in the various ways. It offers programs of relevance to small business at different stages of maturity, generates new business development opportunities, provides access to information and services to direct benefit to small business and sustains awareness of small business perspectives as they relate to the broader Metro Atlanta Chamber mission. The council invites new council members in December of each year.

How to join the SMBC:
To apply for membership on the SMBC, a chamber member should contact his/her Account Executive or Glen Gould at ggould@macoc.com.

How are SMBC members selected?
They are first recommended by one or more of the following: sitting SMBC members,
Account Executives, & other MACOC staff.
The criteria to belong include:

  • Length of membership in the Chamber
  • Degree of involvement in the programs of the Chamber (event attendance)
  • Availability to serve/prior service on a committee of the SMBC

Responsible for identifying new events pertinent to small business members and for recommending speakers, panelists and topics for workshops, roundtables and other relevant programs.

Responsible for sustaining awareness of small business perspectives as they relate to the broader Chamber mission. Ambassador Team
Responsible for generating new business development opportunities for small business members by bringing small and large businesses together, facilitating business introductions at all member levels, and using the techniques of netweaving to create new business relationships between Chamber members. They provide a friendly face to members at Chamber events. Ambassadors are recommended by AEs, existing Ambassadors and SMBC members. They must be members in good standing of one year with a knowledge of the Chamber's goals and programs. Members will be responsible for inviting new members to attend events.

CEO Action Group
A program designed for CEOs, company presidents and business owners of companies with $500,000 to $15 million in annual revenue with two-to-25 employees. Membership is by invitation only to Metro Atlanta Chamber members. Each group has five to six members from non-competing industries, with a chair who facilitates topic-driven discussions. CEOs must be willing to talk openly about their own business, give honest feedback to fellow members and contribute to the success of others. A strict confidentiality agreement among members enables candid discussions.
