Atlanta’s global access, innovation and talent create an unparalleled logistics network for companies that demand an efficient and consistent global supply chain.

Metro Atlanta has grown into a leading global logistics hub and center for supply chain management due to its strong cluster of headquarters that demand efficient services, vital southeast geographic location and robust infrastructure. From highways to rails to the frequency of flights via the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Atlanta is uniquely positioned for supply chain technology and talent.

As part of of its role of promoting business, MAC seeks to make Atlanta the premier center for supply chain management and establish the region as the global gateway of choice. It does that by examining four key areas of supply chain management, including:

  • Marketing to attract new companies and jobs
  • Infrastructure to advocate investments that support industry
  • Workforce development to address skill gaps in the workforce
  • Advanced manufacturing to identify barriers and targeted segments for growth.

Since 2003, MAC recruited companies that created more than 8,000 supply chain and logistics jobs and established direct air cargo service with China. The initiative won an international best-practice award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2006 for its strategy to grow this sector. In 2009, as part of our continued evolution, we adopted a new vision and mission above and the council’s new name - The Supply Chain Leadership Council. In 2011 we added advanced manufacturing as a focus area.
