Global Commerce hosted Ambassador Eduardo Sigal on the occasion of his first visit to Atlanta on May 27, 2010. Ambassador Sigal is the Undersecretary for American Economic Integration and MERCOSUR in the Ministry of Foreign Relations, International Trade and Worship for the Republic of Argentina. Ambassador Sigal spoke about the rapid growth of the economies within MERCOSUR, namely Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. With a combined GDP of over $1.9 Trillion and a combined population of almost 250 million, MERCOSUR presents an attractive opportunity for local companies to expand into South America while taking advantage of the reduced tariffs/duties on goods and services being traded between some of South America’s largest economies.
