The Greats Play Here

The College Football Playoff National Championship. The Super Bowl. The FIFA World Cup. Sporting events benefit from our region’s logistical and cultural advantages just as much as businesses do. That’s why some of the most epic events in sports history have taken place on Atlanta turf, and we’re just getting started.

Atlanta Sports Council

The Atlanta Sports Council (ASC) creates a positive economic and social impact in metro Atlanta and the state through our purpose of recruiting and hosting the biggest sporting events in the world and acting as an advocate for area teams and annual sports events. Our Championship Hosting Division and Atlanta Esports Alliance are just some ways we accomplish this.

A Sport for Every Fan

Whether you’re a baseball fanatic or a golf connoisseur, Atlanta has a sports team for every fan. Catch an Atlanta United or Atlanta Falcons game at the iconic Mercedes Benz Stadium – a venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup! Watch a show-stopping basketball game from one of our two powerhouses, the Atlanta Dream and Atlanta Hawks.

Super Bowl Host

In 2019, Atlanta hosted the Super Bowl, bringing in over $400 million in economic impact to the region when more than 500,000 people (including 150,000 out-of-town visitors) flocked to downtown Atlanta to experience the Big Game and the myriad of events leading up to it. In addition, the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee, Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and the NFL funded a $2.4 million dollar renovation of John F. Kennedy Park in Atlanta’s historic Westside neighborhood proving that hosting major sporting events is much more than a game.

Centennial Olympic Games

In 1996, Atlanta became a globally recognized destination as the host of the Centennial Olympics. This monumental achievement brought in an estimated $5 billion in economic impact that is still felt to this day.

FIFA Incoming

Atlanta was chosen to be a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We are one of only 16 U.S. cities to be selected.
